The Z Cinema Camera line up

This month, the Nikon ZR joins the three pro RED cinema cameras with Nikon Z mount – the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount launched in February and the V-RAPTOR XE Z Mount.

V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount

The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount is the new version of RED’s flagship, celebrated for its unmatched low-light performance (thanks to the Z mount), high frame rates and industry-leading 8K VV large format global shutter sensor. With RED technology, the dynamic range remains unmatched – 20+ stops in Extended Highlights mode beautifully captures colours and details even in challenging light.

KOMODO-X Z Mount

The compact KOMODO-X Z Mount combines a 6K Super 35 global shutter sensor with a wide dynamic range and high-speed performance. The KOMODO-X Z Mount supports 6K recording at up to 80fps and 4K up to 120fps, and naturally, RED’s custom colour science delivers cinema-quality imaging. The R3D Redcode RAW format, RED's proprietary video data format, makes editing and grading easy.

V-RAPTOR XE Z Mount

A streamlined version of the revolutionary V-RAPTOR [X], the V-RAPTOR XE curates the essential tools for cinematic storytelling. Designed for independent creators who demand uncompromising image quality, the V-RAPTOR XE Z Mount delivers cinema-grade features at a more accessible price point. The new camera retains RED’s industry-leading 8K large format (VV) global shutter sensor found in the V-RAPTOR [X] series, ensuring cinematic image fidelity, dynamic range and low-light performance that filmmakers around the world trust.

The new Nikon ZR: An all-in-one

Now, the new Nikon ZR cinema camera is a film studio in your pocket. Affordable, lightweight and agile, the Nikon ZR is packed with innovative features that make filming a breeze either as an all-in-one set-up or as a centrepiece of a larger rig. The first camera in the world to support R3D NE codec, the ZR has RED’s famous colour science built in and available instantly. The results? Graded footage straight from the camera via a RED preset (or you can download RED-supervised Picture Controls via Nikon Imaging Cloud). And as with other Nikon Z cameras, the ZR features the Nikon Z mount – the widest mirrorless mount available. That means superb low-light capabilities and access to a full library of NIKKOR Z lenses including Nikon’s first video power zoom, the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, and hundreds of F Mount lenses via the FTZII adapter.

Film up to 6K in-camera and slow motion at up to 240p in full HD for up to 125 minutes on a single battery charge, or switch to stills when you fancy. Recording dialogue? Use the ZR’s three mics and five pickup patterns with OZO Audio to immerse your viewers in your scene.
